Need Spanish visa health insurance urgently?

If your Spanish visa appointment or submission deadline is close, the most important thing is to arrange the right type of private health insurance for Spain as quickly and accurately as possible.

Many urgent enquiries happen because applicants have bought travel insurance, international insurance, employer cover or a policy with copayments, and then realise it may not match the visa requirement.

We help applicants review private health insurance options for Spain, including certificate-ready, no-copay, no-waiting-period and repatriation cover where required.

Certificate

Can you get a health insurance certificate quickly?

In many cases, certificate-ready private health insurance options can be reviewed quickly once the applicant details are available. The exact timing depends on the insurer, applicant age, medical details, payment method, policy start date and documentation required.

If your appointment is close, tell us the deadline clearly in the form. The faster we receive the applicant details, the easier it is to check available options and certificate requirements.

See our guide to the health insurance certificate for a Spanish visa.

Wrong policy?

Already bought travel insurance for your Spanish visa?

Many urgent enquiries come from applicants who bought travel insurance because it was quick and low-priced, then discovered it may not be suitable for a Spanish visa or residency application.

Travel insurance can create problems because it is usually designed for temporary trips, emergencies, cancellation and luggage — not healthcare access while living in Spain. If you already bought travel insurance, we can help you review Spanish private health insurance options instead.

See our comparison: travel insurance vs visa health insurance.

Global cover?

Already have international or employer health insurance?

International or employer health insurance may not automatically match Spanish visa requirements, even if it provides good medical cover.

It can cause issues if it is reimbursement-based; has deductibles or excesses; does not clearly cover residence in Spain; does not name dependants; cannot provide certificate wording; is linked to employment; or does not show no-copay cover where required. If your appointment is close and you are unsure, request Spanish private health insurance options quickly.

See our comparison: international health insurance vs Spanish visa health insurance.

No-copay

Need urgent no-copay health insurance?

If your visa application asks for no-copay or sin copago private health insurance, do not rely on a policy with copayments unless it has been confirmed as suitable for your route.

No-copay cover may be important for Non-Lucrative Visa applications; some Digital Nomad Visa applications; Student Visa applications; family residence applications; residence permit applications; and visa and TIE renewals.

See our guide to no-copay health insurance for Spanish visas.

No waiting periods

Need urgent no-waiting-period health insurance?

Some visa or residency applications ask for cover without waiting periods. If this appears in your instructions, mention it clearly when requesting your urgent quote.

No-waiting-period wording may be especially important for Student Visa, NLV and other residence applications where immediate healthcare access is expected.

See our guide to no waiting period health insurance.

Repatriation

Need urgent health insurance with repatriation cover?

If your visa checklist or adviser has asked for repatriation cover, mention this clearly before arranging insurance. Not every policy includes repatriation, and not every certificate shows it clearly.

See our guide to repatriation cover for Spanish visa health insurance.

Families & dependants

Urgent health insurance for families and dependants

If you are applying as a couple, family or with dependants, urgent health insurance needs more care because every applicant who needs cover should be named correctly.

Check that all applicants are included; dates of birth are correct; children are named; spouse or partner is named; the policy start date works for everyone; certificate wording applies to all applicants; older family members are eligible; and proof of payment is available where required.

See our guides to visa health insurance for families and family reunification health insurance.

Avoid delays

What can slow down urgent health insurance?

Urgent health insurance is quickest when all the important details are ready. To keep things moving, provide full applicant names; dates of birth; nationality; visa route; application deadline; policy start date; planned town or region in Spain; whether an NIE is available; whether dependants are included; whether specific wording is required; and your existing policy documents if something has been questioned.

Answers

Urgent Spanish visa health insurance FAQs

Can I get urgent health insurance for a Spanish visa?+

Yes. We help applicants review urgent private health insurance options for Spanish visa, residency and renewal applications when an appointment or deadline is close. The available options depend on applicant age, visa route, policy start date, medical details and insurer rules. The faster you send complete applicant details and your deadline, the quicker suitable options and certificate requirements can be reviewed. If your appointment is today or this week, say so clearly so the enquiry is treated as urgent from the start.

Can I get same-day Spanish visa health insurance?+

In some cases options and documentation can be reviewed quickly once full applicant details are available. Timing depends on the insurer, the applicant details, the payment method and the certificate requirements, so same-day cover cannot be promised for every situation. The best way to move fast is to send your visa type, deadline, applicant details and any specific wording you have been asked for. Where cover can start promptly, a certificate can often follow soon after the policy is set up.

What details do you need for an urgent quote?+

To review urgent options quickly, we need the visa type, appointment or submission date, application country or consulate, applicant ages, nationality, the number of applicants, planned location in Spain, preferred policy start date and NIE status. It also helps to know whether no-copay, no-waiting-period, repatriation or certificate wording is required, and whether you already bought insurance. The more complete your details, the faster suitable options can be checked against your route.

Can I get a health insurance certificate quickly?+

Often, yes. Certificate-ready options may be available depending on the insurer, applicant details and policy start date. If your appointment is close, tell us the exact deadline so the enquiry is prioritised. The certificate should normally match each applicant's details, show the correct dates and confirm healthcare cover in Spain. Because a certificate has to be requested and prepared, sending complete details early makes it far easier to have the right document ready in time for your appointment.

What if I already bought travel insurance?+

Travel insurance is usually not suitable for Spanish visa or residency applications, because it is designed for temporary trips, emergencies, cancellation and luggage rather than ongoing healthcare while living in Spain. Some official Non-Lucrative Visa guidance states travel insurance will not be accepted. If you have already bought travel insurance, we can help you review Spanish private health insurance options instead. Do not assume a travel certificate will meet a residence route, especially close to your appointment.

What if my current certificate has been questioned?+

If your current certificate or policy has been questioned, send the details and we can help you review alternative Spanish private health insurance options where needed. We cannot change another insurer's certificate or guarantee any document will be accepted, but we can help you check whether a new policy with clearer wording, the correct dates or no-copay cover may suit your route better. Tell us exactly what the consulate, immigration office or adviser flagged so the right options can be reviewed.

Can urgent health insurance be set up without an NIE?+

In many cases, yes. Applicants often arrange private health insurance and receive proof of cover before they have an NIE, because the policy is frequently needed before the visa or residence application is approved. Depending on insurer rules, your passport details may be used first, with the NIE added later where required. This is common for applications made from a Spanish consulate abroad, where certificate-ready cover is needed well before you arrive and register in Spain.

Can families request urgent health insurance?+

Yes. Couples, families and dependants can request urgent health insurance options together. Each applicant who needs cover should be named correctly, with matching dates of birth and start dates, because applications can be delayed when only the main applicant is shown or a child is missing. Family enquiries need a little more care close to a deadline, so tell us how many applicants need cover and their ages so the documents can be arranged to show everyone correctly.

Do urgent policies include no-copay cover?+

No-copay options may be available depending on the applicant details, route and insurer rules. If your visa application asks for no-copay or sin copago cover, mention this clearly in your urgent request, because a policy with copayments may not be suitable for some routes. No-copay wording is most often relevant for Non-Lucrative Visa applications and other residence routes. Telling us early means the right option and certificate wording can be put in place before your appointment.

Can applicants over 75 get urgent private health insurance through you?+

We do not currently work with insurers that offer new visa-suitable private health insurance policies for applicants over 75. If the applicant is over 75, they may need to explore public healthcare access, S1 entitlement where applicable, existing cover or specialist residency advice. We can still review private options for family members aged 75 or under who are applying at the same time, so it helps to tell us everyone's ages when you send your urgent enquiry.

Can you guarantee the policy will be accepted?+

No. Final approval is always decided by the relevant consulate, immigration office or authority, and you should be cautious of anyone who claims otherwise. What we can do is help you review private health insurance options designed with Spanish visa and residency documentation in mind, with certificate-ready wording and the correct dates where your route requires it. Even when an appointment is urgent, checking your specific requirements first helps make sure the cover and documents match.
